Comments/Advice from Dr. Vaga (doctorate in piano performance, decades sitting on piano benches, 14 years assessing and selling benches online. . .):
Overwhelmed with the choices? The top of the line in terms of quality and durability is Jansen - will last a lifetime, we have NO issues or returns with Jansen benches. Made in the U.S., selected hardwoods, hand crafted, unlimited guarantee on quality, I have had several Jansen benches in my studios (university and private studio) over several decades, the quality is outstanding. Jansen sets the highest standard, period.
Poeschl was also good quality - but after 30+ years, Poeschl could not survive the economy, and has gone out of business.
The OSP benches are OK as the most inexpensive benches listed, but the finish chips easily, the bench will not survive heavy use. All other benches are overall medium use. Avoid any adjustable artist bench with a built-in storage compartment, unless it is a feature you simply must have (they tend to squeak and groan after awhile).
