Arrangements for the Intermediate level pianist. Some 16ths, some jumping around, but nothing that would make any of the songs technically frustrating.

Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Tim Rice. 54 Pages, Level UI+. As with all Webber music, exceptionally well done. Piano part also follows vocal line. Color photos, bios, and a preface which includes the following: "...it is intriguing to note that in the year of the first performance (1968) the copyright on Joseph was sold by Andrew and Tim to Novello And Co. for 50 guineas each. Novello and Co. was subsequently purchased by Filmtrax, who continued to own the copyright until 21st April 1989, when the Really Useful Group purchased it for 1 million pounds. A lavish new production of Joseph, with a revised score, opened at the London Palladium on June 2, 1991, with Jason Donovan in the title role. After an extensive tour of North America (featuring Donny Osmond), Joseph began a new Broadway run in 1993, with Michael Damian as the biblical hero, joining two other Lloyd Webber shows in New York, Cats and The Phantom of the Opera."

Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton. 93 pages. Brief bios of Webber, Black and Hampton. Background to the origins of the musical by Webber. Piano follows vocal line. Level - UI. As with all Andrew Lloyd Webber collections (and in general, vocal selections type of collections), the songs adhere to the original production.
| let's have lunch with one look surrender the greatest star of all every movie's a circus girl meets boy |
new ways to dream the perfect year this time next year sunset boulevard as if we never said goodbye too much in love to care |
|
|
Arrangements are around the intermediate level, perhaps Upper Intermediate in some of the songs where there are octaves, a few 16th-note runs, some arpeggios.
Clarity is excellent, the font used for the score is very evenly spaced, even a bit widely spaced (does make for easier reading, no squinting required!).
No fingerings provided, which is darn close to being inexcusable in my opinion.
Recommend.
| all i ask of you angel of music masquerade music of the night phantom of the opera |
point of no return prima donna think of me wishing you were somehow here again |

Music by Frederick Loewe -- Lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner. This is one of those "classic" collections, originally published in the late 1950's. Level is intermediate, but in general more difficult than current piano/vocal collections tend to be. It has the well-known artword on the cover, and includes B/W photos scenes from the film and play (Julie Andrews and Audrey Hepburn). If you love the musical, you'll certainly enjoy this collection.
