Jansen artist benches are built with thick, firm polyester foam which will last for years (decades), and will not break down over time. They pay superior attention to details of construction including the steel mechanism as well as to the quality of the finish and upholstery. And, they use replaceable brass bushings in the mechanism, which means that after years of hard studio up/down use, replacing $20 bushings makes the bench mechanism like new (and takes only about half an hour!). Tolerances are very close, there is no bench wobble.
All Jansen benches are constructed in their own factory, even the mechanism is built in their machine shop! They do not contract out for anything, so custom leg sizes are no problem, nor are custom finish shades or any other special order requirements.
